According to Marcus Hiles, Dallas is going through what he calls a new norm for urban residential living, along with several other of the fastest growing major U.S. cities including Houston, Atlanta, Boston, New York, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia. Millennials as well as retiring baby boomers desire luxury living without the labor. But, the reality is that there are other forces at play here too. This high demand is also driven by big segments of the population that cannot qualify for a traditional mortgage, are not looking to buy, or are downsizing their living situation, all at the same time. Hiles is confident that affordable luxury rental communities will continue to gain ground as affluent Americans become city dwellers – some by choice, others out of necessity.
