Renting is now the preferred living method for countless millennials. As their desire to own a home decreases, the need for good, modern rental homes has dramatically increased. For millennials, living in apartments and units is a long-term solution rather than just temporary. The proof is there- according to the National Multi-Housing Council, 14 percent of the population of Texas are renters, and the number is expected to grow. The percentage is often higher in large cities. Approximately 41 percent of Houston’s population are renters, slightly lower in Austin at 35 percent and in San Antonio, it is 24 percent. Explains Marcus Hiles, “The American dream is now not owning a home but renting an apartment.” Hiles and his company Western Rim Property Services are developing new rentals in top locations, near the best schools, and with the finest amenities all within walking distance.
